I hate this trend towards (not very) contextual ads disguised as links

I’m as much a fan of the idea of making some money off my Web writings as the next guy, but I hate these new ads that put ads on keywords in the middle of content. The trend seems to be “double underlines mean ads.” Totally freaking intrusive and built to exploit a decade’s worth of training in the way the WWW functions.

Okay, if you’re interested in assembly language programming, read The Art of Assembly Language and use the included HLA compiler.

But, if you just need to occasionally compile some pre-existing code, MASM 8 is now available for download from Microsoft.

ACM Membership Provides Limited Safari Access

I have mixed feelings about AI for Game Developers.” In the full Safari bookshelf, the AI category has Voice Application Development with VoiceXML which is a much more “enterprise-y” type of read.

On the other hand, even in “full Safari” there’s only 8 books in the AI category, only 3 of which are really about AI, and all 3 of those are game-focused. To me, the opposite type of approach would be more appealing: access to a large number of academic titles.
