and in the spirit of pair programming, my colleague Carlos Lima shares his perspective as well.

(For what it’s worth, I think the tone of my column may be a little more negative that I intended. I tried to be balanced pro and con, but perhaps I over-emphasized the problems.)

  1. My favored interview inquiry is: “Do you have a treasured bug?” I have never gotten a specific bug as a reply. What ends up occurring is that the interviewee starts discussing the types of bugs they relish discovering and the methodology they employ to coax these “favorite” bugs out of hiding.
