Computer Science Grads Get Most Job Offers
According to this release, Computer Science majors had the highest percentage of job offers of any major.
I have to admit to being somewhat surprised at this, as I thought the trend toward offshore development was still driving down the market for young developers.
I don’t have any figures I can specifically point to, but I think I’ve heard that enrollments in CS programs have fallen off a cliff since the late 90′s, due to the Internet bubble burst and high school guidance counselors telling seniors that no one can get a job in Tech b/c of the offshoring. Also, CS grads are far more qualified (generally) than the more numerous MIS grads who I think might be bearing more of the brunt of the offshoring movement.
